Mother’s Day Mom! This is the first Mother’s Day that we’re not together, and
it’s not because of COVID-19, it’s because of death. You left this earth last
August and the world hasn’t been the same.
I don’t
need Mother’s Day to love you. Every day when I wake up, I love you. Every night
when I go to sleep, I love you. You’re forever on my mind. In the course of my
day there are things that come up that make me think of you – and smile. All my
friends loved her. Shirley was young at heart.
My mother
was beautiful, smart and funny. Although my father thought he ran the show, but
it was Shirley. It’s only if you got to know Shirley and Joe really well, that
you could recognize that Shirley was the boss. And Joe just loved her! Shirley
was the perfect mother. She was an amazing cook and baker. Before I was 4 years
of age, Shirley taught me how to read. She did everything that mothers were supposed
to do – only better!
There are
going to be many people who are crying today because they can’t see their
mothers due to COVID-19. You don’t know how lucky you are! You have your mothers!
I’m crying today because my mother is no longer on this earth.
All that I am, or ever hope to be, I owe to my mother.
